Revision Notes, Reorganised (and Better Flashcards)

Revision notes and flashcards: a note on version history in cloud storage, and a flashcard about routers

The revision notes have had a big reorganise, and the flashcards have been rebuilt to go with them.

Bite-sized notes, in a sensible order

Each note covers one idea, so pupils can read exactly the bit they need. There are now over 150 notes across 17 topics, and the bigger topics are split into sections. You go from a topic, to a section, to a note: Modern Technologies › Cloud Storage › Version History.

  • One idea per note, short enough to read on a phone on the bus.
  • Sections group related notes inside a topic, so nothing gets lost in a long list.
  • "Practise this" at the end of every note goes straight to the activities for that subtopic.
  • Previous and next links let pupils read a whole section in order.

Each subtopic's Learn page brings together the notes it needs, so a note is written once and appears wherever it's relevant.

New flashcards

The flashcards have been rebuilt from scratch.

  • Turn the card with a click or the space bar, and move through the set with the arrow keys.
  • "Got it" or "Still learning". Pupils sort each card as they go, with a running tally.
  • Go again with the ones I'm still learning. At the end of a round, pupils can repeat just the cards they didn't know.
  • Shuffle a set, or revise a whole topic at once.
  • My saved cards. Pupils can save a question from a quiz to their own set and come back to it later.
  • Every card in a set is also listed underneath as plain text, for a quick read through.

Where to find them

Notes are under Revise and flashcards under Flashcards in the top menu. Both are free and need no account; pupils only need to sign in to save cards.
