Data in a long table is hard to compare, so graphs and charts ______ it and make patterns easier to see. A good graph needs a clear ______ so the reader knows what it shows, an easy to read scale, labels that name what each axis measures, and a label on every column or bar.
Choose the chart type to suit the data. A ______ chart compares separate categories side by side, such as the number of bookings for each holiday type. A ______ chart shows a whole circle split into slices, so it uses totals rather than averages. A ______ graph joins the points to show how values change over time.
A graph is ______ when its vertical axis does not start at ______, because a small rise then looks huge. A graph with no title, or no numbers up the side, leaves the reader unsure what it shows.
To create a chart, select the data, then use Insert and Chart. The chart editor lets you pick the chart type, then use the ______ tab to change colours and add axis titles. You can also chart a ______ table by selecting its labels and the values beside them. Any ______ on that table change which data appears in the chart.
